Chorale performs free concert at Provincetown Town Hall

The concert will feature two pieces written in 1999: “Dewi Sant” and “The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace” (excerpts). “Dewi Sant” is a seven-movement work exploring the life and work of the patron saint of Wales, St. David. The style is characterized by joyous polyrhythms and African-style percussion underpinning the chorus. Written to mark the millennium, “The Armed Man” is one of Jenkins’ most frequently performed works. The choral suite from the larger work was performed by the Chorale several seasons ago and was so well-received that it’s being reprised for its 10th season. All concerts are free. A nucleus of performers was formed in the Massachusetts town that would shortly in Baltimore come to include Mink Stole, Cookie Mueller, Mary Vivan Pearce and, of course, Edith Massey.
